SP, Good luck on the Chicago Marathon. Best advice I got was to keep putting one foot in front of the other until you get to the end. It works.
Cheers

Didn't realize you were running a marathon SP. But good luck as well. The one foot in front of the other is great advice. Don't go out too fast. My pace I trained for seemed excruciating slow the first 6 miles, so I picked it up a little bit. I think I would have done better had I kept to the pace I trained for through mile 16 and then let myself go.
I don't know about getting it out of your system. I keep running 'em. I keep waiting for the 'bug' to go away but it doesn't! Maybe age will preclude the madness. Greek

Nikes with the big swoosh, short shorts, high socks, and a mullet. What a image.

It was worse than that; I was wearing a Lacoste "alligator" shirt to look cool when I ran through Wellesley, but it started to chafe my nipples (thus creating some very unsightly stains on my shirt)just as I was approaching the town; so I had to discard the shirt at about the half-way point which made the rest of the outfit you note stand out all the more...

Morning before a very long event O'dog was engaged in a little pre-race meet and greet with other racers. Forecast was for intense heat, no wind. Got some great advice from another racer:
"You know that feeling during a race when everything feels great, you're filled with energy, and you just want to go, go, go? Don't!"
O'dog kept it in the tank that day until the last portion of the race then let it all go and experienced the joy of passing scores of other racers.
