To answer your question...The kids know that I do not wish to see ow because she is not someone I like very much. I have explained to them that sometimes in life there are people you just don't get along with, and that ow is one of those.... they know I was hurt by ow's (and H's) actions and therefore chose not to have her in my life, BUT....they also know that I totally accept her in THEIR lives....(sounds complicated, but the kids seem to deal with this very well, they know exactly where the boundary lies this way...)
I have also told them that maybe one day in the future I may accept ow and will politely deal with her as such, but for now that is not the case...
