My presentation went great! Good audience with lots of great questions! I am going to present a poster at a big conference in November, I thought I was going to piggy back on another project, but they think that I have enough to present my own research...Thats national you guys!!! And another one in April, on marine mammal strandings! The one next month depends on if we can get the grant we applied for for the travel, should know in a week or two, but the one in April I should be able to get to. Im excited! Its a good time for some good news.
I had a good dinner with a few friends and I suppose its been a pretty good night!

Thanks Karen. I have a date this weekend in the city. I am sooo nervous. I dont know how to date! Its been 9 years... in fact when I think about it, Im not sure that I have ever been on a real live date! I have gone to dinner with my boyfriends, that kind of a thing, but never the "Ill pick you up at 7" kind of thing!

Well, I havent heard from the guy I was supposed to have the date with for a few days, since the day he gave me his number for when I got to town, in fact. I havent decided if I should call him when I get there or not, but I have a bunch of other things to do while Im there, so its not a big deal. I am a little disappointed though. It would have been fun! Ive been talking to a few other guys, maybe I can still set something up. Im not completely sure yet if I should blow him off or not... How bout some feedback here guys?

Ummm... maybe he is waiting on you to call. Sometimes a wuss move, but guys sometimes rely on the lady to call.

DC, he finally popped up again. Im meeting him tonight, though honestly, the whole dropping off the face of the earth thing isnt that impressive. I dont want constant attention, but maybe answering my agreeing to meet him for drinks with a "ok, Im looking forward to it!" Or some kind of acknowledgement.
So, I am just getting ready to hit the road. I hardly slept at all last night and this is a long drive! I hope that I have time to get showered and freshened up before its time to meet. All in all, I think that this will be fun, and if nothing else, I have a few friends up there that I could coerce into coming out with me.

Make sure you see the beluga near Elderberry Park sometime this weekend. (Look in ADN for details). Kids and I went down there this evening but it was a bit too dark to see. Will try again tomorrow.
