Just more journaling

I had a good day with the boys. Had good weekend with the boys.

Friday I picked up the boys from school and daycare. We had dinner and then I went to sign up my 7 year old for boy scouts. My 7 year old is really interested in it and they said that parents are encouraged to go as well. I know I will be there, doubtful of my wife. I did ask about taking my 3 year old and was excited when they said the 3 year old can go to the events as well. I was never a scout (never had the money nor a dad to take me there) but have always wanted to check it out. Maybe my wife was right, I am reliving my second childhood through my kids. So what. Isn't that part of enjoying time with kids?

On Sat we wound up going to seeing a Jimmy Buffet coverband that was raising money for breast cancer. We had a blast as the boys had never seen a band before. We had gone to fairs and carnivals where there were bands playing, but never just for a concert.

On Sunday we finished doing the laundry (folding and putting the clothes away). It's pretty scary how good my boys have gotten at folding clothes. Anyway, we wound up going to a fair where there were pig races again. It was a little sad for me as it was a annual fair that the 4 of us used to go to all the time. My wife called while we were there. I let the boys answer and she told them a local hardware store that we used to go to was closing (very odd) and then asked what we were doing. They told them we were at the fair and then hung up.

In the afternoon, I woke my 3 year old up early from his nap so we fit tennis in before them getting picked up. Not a good idea as he had a melt down when we got to where we play tennis. It really put a damper on things, but I did get to hit around with my 7 year old (he was the one who really wanted to play) for a bit as I just let him cry it out for a bit.

When we got home, he calmed down and the three of us made dinner (hot dogs, mac & cheese and fish sticks). I let my 7 year old cut the hot dogs into small pieces to go into the mac & cheese while my 3 year old mixed the cheese into it.

After dinner and baths, my 3 year old asked if we could clean up the basement so we could play basketball down there. So they did that while I did the dishes. I was surprise how well they cleaned up. We played for a bit and then it was time for them to get picked up.

I had gotten a text from her asking to borrow an icepack when she picked up the boys. I gave it to her as well as the leftover mac & cheese w/hotdogs the boys asked to take over. I noticed she was limping pretty bad. I asked her about it. She said she hurt her leg. I asked how. And she said playing flag football.

I just said oh. I was a little annoyed as this is a woman who I had tried to play tennis with me, running or even just come out to play catch with me and the boys. Even before all the nonsense, she would refuse. I didn't let it really get to me as I buckled my boys in and gave them their hugs and kisses.

My 3 year old asked when he would be back. I said Friday again. He said "Yeah" and they drove off as they yelled out the window "I love you"

It was a good weekend and now I'm back in NY. Ready to go another week....

My 3 year old had a melt down when I woke him up early from his nap so that we would have time to play tennis before he had to get picked up. He clearly needed another 30 minutes of sleep but my 7 year old really wanted to go play.
