Whatisis,

I think a Naturopathic doctor might be worth seeing.

Have a look at Prescptions for Natural Cures by Balch and Stengler. It's an alternative medicine bible of sorts. Diet, excercise, de-toxification, fasts, supplements, herbal remedies, homeopathics, aromatherpy, acupuncture, reflexology, flower essences, etc. Excellent resource. They list a condition and outline multiple approaches for dealing with it.

I've suffered from anxiety/stress issues, mostly panic attacks. I was getting chest pains and was always fatigued.

What helped me:

1. A low glycemic index, healthy diet. The GI diet, South Beach and Mediterranen diet are all pretty similar. In general, eat more fiber-rich foods (Fruit, beans, vegetables, whole grains, oatmeal, etc.) Healthy fats (deep sea fish, olive oil, canola oil, flax-seed oil, nuts). Lean protien (chicken, fish, red-meat, low fat yogurt, low-fat cottage cheese, feta/goat milk cheese, etc). Red wine is great for you!!!! In general, avoid processed, refined foods (cookies, pastries, potato chips, white rice, pasta). Avoid too many sweets. Try and avoid potatoes. If you have grains, go for Brown rice, whole wheat bread, sourdough, whole grain rye, etc. Go easy on the beer!!! Eat three moderate meals a day and have two snacks. Snack on things like fruit and nuts. The idea is that foods that spike your blood surar levels and insulin tend to make you more emotionally volatile and stressed out. It also stabilizes your cholesterol/triglycerides, will prevent diabetes, and gives you more energy overall. Getting a well-balanced diet rich in cruciferous vegetables boosts the immune system. Getting lots of fiber (soluable/insoluable) helps de-toxify the body, which relieves stress and boosts your immune system. You might also lose weight on it!!!!

2. Excercize. 3-5 times a week. Helps with stress and anxiety. Boosts the immune system. If you are trying to reduce stress, Yoga is good.

3. Regular regimen of vitamins/supplements. Echinecea and Goldenseal are good for immune function.

4. I use the bach flower essence: Rescue Remedy. It's homeopathic and aimed to calm the nerves.

5. Having people around you who care for you and are able to give to you. It's great being the sounding board for other people's problems, but, sometimes it nice just to shoot the breeze and have fun.

Peace,

Theoden
