I think when women get like this, it actually means, [I dont have a defensible reason, and I know it, so I'm going to make excuses to avoid admitting that].
Note that "no DEFENSIBLE reason", is not the same as "no reason".
INdefensible reasons, are usually all the same reason: "I'm seeing someone else, but I'm not ready to admit it now." The other one being, "I'm having a midlife crisis, but I cant admit that I'm out of my mind and making no sense, so I'll pretend i'm just 'too busy' to tell you my sane reasons now"
