He goes in spurts of communicating and pulling back, although I can't really say he's ever completely been dark. When he first left the house last June, he called nearly every day and he would answer the phone if I called.
Lately his thing has been to text, but not call. That is ok, because it helps me keep my responses brief. I can also "get around to" answering and not answer right away. Its rare for him to call, although if I don't answer his texts for a day or more he usually does call. So, I've obviously been taking longer and longer to actually answer anything unless it involves our son.
He also likes to forward me interesting articles from the Wall Street Journal. I read them, but I don't really say anything unless he asks me about a particular one later.
