And so she specified some business, and I proceeded to do the business, but the fact was that neither of us was into it at that point -- I mean, it seemed sort of phony -- and both of us could sense it, and so it just sort of meandered off into a mutual (and mutually unsatisfied) "well, goodnight."

And that was the last time we were ever together.
