have you read "the four hour work week" by timothy ferriss? It is basically a book about how to travel the world without necessarily quitting your job. A little crazy in places but highly inspiring.
I am really, really excited for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only parts of SEA I've been to are singapore for a weekend and bali for about 3 months... that is so cool you are going to explore so many different parts. If you need suggestions for Bali, I can hook you up!!! Singapore is nice, it actually reminded me of Boston... like clean, manageable, still sophisticated. The only part of Japan I saw was the airport, but you CAN pay five dollars to take a shower in a special shower place (you get your own little bathroom and everything) which was amazing because by that point I think I'd been flying for 18 hours.
