Disneyland is made up of two parks. Disneyland (the original park built by Walt himself) and Disney's California Adventure. You need one day in each. If you can manage to make both of them on weekdays, instead of weekends then you won't have quite the amount of crowds. Of course, if you do that at the end of your trip it will be January already so the hours on the weekdays are shorter. You can do it on your own, no problem, but it's just not quite as much fun as sharing it with someone. If you can and it is running at that time, make sure that you don't miss the Fantasmic show. It is quite an awesome spectacle!
