When I was 18 I did the East Coast (Melbourne - Cairns) and I loved Sydney and have always wanted to go back, however I feel I should go somewhere new. Which city or place would you recommend if I only have a couple of days?
Hmmm, I guess it depends what you are looking for. Of course Melbourne and Sydney are wonderful cities for a couple of days and there's loads to do but that's of course if you want a big city.
You could go to Darwin/central Australia, a more expensive option but a contrast to a large city and I think Tiger flys into Darwin from Singapore.
And then of course, there's Brisbane/Gold Coast/Sunshine Coast. In December/Jan it'll be hot and humid and the beaches and theme parks could be the focus. Would work well for 3 days. Further north could be too hot and it will be rainy season.
Since you've done the east coast you may well have seen these places and prefer something entirley different. One things for sure, australia has it all! rainforest, city, beach, desert
Guess it's a matter of the contrast you're looking for to the rest of your itinerary. I love WA but I think it's too far and too isolated for just 3 days......Nell may disagree!!
Have a think and if you want me to elaborate further on any place just say the word.
I had to just text h re some bank stuff. He texted back a reply and said he was off to the USA for a couple of weeks, sorry USA ow is inflicted on you for a while . Also that he got upgraded to first class. This is bollocks btw, I saw from the bank statements that he paid for 1st class but hey, not my problem any more.
I just texted a funny text back saying to have a fab time and a Taco Bell on me and added a'x' at the end. I just thought sod it, I'm happy and I'm spreading the happiness what's he going to do, go on holiday with another woman? - oops already doing that
Good job Julia! Ignore his stupidity. Why he thinks he has to lie to you still about 'getting upgraded' is beyond me. Why do they do that? Grrr.......oh yeah....stupidity and guilt!
Your trip sounds FAB!!! If you need any advice about D-land let me know. I grew up in the OC, went to D-land several times a year for my entire life and worked there for 5 years before I moved to GA so I know the place inside out.
Borneo? Really? I don't think I've ever even considered it. What specifically would you be going there to see? I'm curious about it

Borneo is home to the Orangutans and also is the slightly less spoilt part of Malaysia.
Mishka, I have loads of questions! Do you think it is ok to go to Disney by yourself or is it a place you need to share with someone? Does it take one day or two? Is there a tour you can do round Hollywood?
Disneyland is made up of two parks. Disneyland (the original park built by Walt himself) and Disney's California Adventure. You need one day in each. If you can manage to make both of them on weekdays, instead of weekends then you won't have quite the amount of crowds. Of course, if you do that at the end of your trip it will be January already so the hours on the weekdays are shorter. You can do it on your own, no problem, but it's just not quite as much fun as sharing it with someone. If you can and it is running at that time, make sure that you don't miss the Fantasmic show. It is quite an awesome spectacle!

There are several, but the most comprehensive are done through Grayline. I've never done one myself, but I have heard that they do the best, non-cheesy job of it!

I'm so excited about your trip!!!!!!! I've been wondering all this time when the plan would be activated & what exactly it would involve. You made me laugh with your comment about, "sorry US, OW is inflicted on you for a while." I am smiling...
have you read "the four hour work week" by timothy ferriss? It is basically a book about how to travel the world without necessarily quitting your job. A little crazy in places but highly inspiring.
I am really, really excited for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only parts of SEA I've been to are singapore for a weekend and bali for about 3 months... that is so cool you are going to explore so many different parts. If you need suggestions for Bali, I can hook you up!!! Singapore is nice, it actually reminded me of Boston... like clean, manageable, still sophisticated. The only part of Japan I saw was the airport, but you CAN pay five dollars to take a shower in a special shower place (you get your own little bathroom and everything) which was amazing because by that point I think I'd been flying for 18 hours.
