But first, look for a reset button, probably near where the cord comes in. If it is reset, you should hopefully hear some noise, even if it doesn't work. So, the shaft of the disposal goes all the way through to the bottom. If you are lucky, hiding in some drawer in the kitchen, there is a wrench/key that fits into it, and lets you turn it manually, and hopefully break any obstructions. Failing that, you can probably improvise a tool to do the job. Another way that can work, is to UNPLUG the disposal, and reach into the maw of the beast, and try turning everything by hand. That can be a bit gross, and it's possible there is something sharp in there, so it's pretty far down the list of desirable things to do! You really shouldn't have to disassemble the beast, the mechanism itself is pretty simple. It's probably jammed, and turning it manually will usually break the jam.
