It's not stupid or ridiculous - it is depression. Have you not seen the commercials that ask, What/Who/Where does depression hurt? I think it is cymbalta...but there are physical symptoms, too.
Too bad you didn't get to the party...hope that something else is lined up for this week - Make a list of 10-minute pamper things you can think of, right here. I'll get you started:
(ok, this is for longer than 10 minutes, but I'll get others:go to the local bookstore for an hour or two. Buy a cup of coffee and read all the books and magazines you want. It can be better than the library, because the bookstore sells coffee and treats and has a newer selection of reading material. But don't forget the library - they have books on tape, and music that you can borrow)
Paint your toenails.
Have a cup of hot chocolate.
Pick a few flowers on a short walk (you can even ask the neighbors)
Not up to walking? Just take 10 to sit outside and breathe deeply. Or stretch out in the lawn - when was the last time you watched the clouds go by?
Get a sketch pad and doodle.
Look around for some card stock (or buy a large piece of poster board for $.60 and cut it up) to make postcards. Stick stamps on them and carry them in your purse. Jot a note to someone when you are at lunch or waiting in line somewhere - you'll brighten 2 people's day!
Speaking of lunch - what do you do while you have it at work? Play a game of solitare on the computer, virtually take a tour of someplace you'd like to visit, make an effort to sit with someone you might not normally talk with much. Go outside with a bag lunch and people watch / listen to kids play on a playground.
