Karen, Just a thought, but instead of volunteering, why don't you sign up for substitute teaching? The district I'm in always has a hard time finding good subs. With your degree, they would jump on a chance to hire you as a sub. It is a way lots of teachers actually get a full time job in our district. Great way to to get your foot in the door.
