That was nice what your FIL said. Ultimately he is your stbxh's family and that's where his loyalties will lie, but it's nice he spoke his mind. I think my in-laws wanted to do the same, but never did.

Hey lodo, yes choking form fire smoke. Although I am far away from the hell of fire, pretty sad, I left my window open and my house is now full with ashes...

FiL wants us to reconcile. He said his son messed up and that he lost control. He said nomatter what happens he will make sure she is out of the picture. I told him the damage is done.
When I asked him what he would have done if his daughter was in my shoes, he said stbXH is lucky my dad in a gentleman.
Sounds like your FIL is a pretty decent guy. I am sure this hurts him, too. If my son ever did this to his wife, I know how hard that would be....glad you were open and honest with him.
Sorry about the fires, what is on fire? We get forest fires here, or prairie fires.
I read about the fires the other day, it sounds pretty bad!
There haven't been in significant fires near me this year, at least to this point! It seems like the first year in a while that we haven't had one to keep an eye on.

Kat, believe me, we dont need any more fires. The entire city of Athens with 5m people, is only cement. No trees, parks etc. Now all the mountains around the city are burnt down, we will be using oxygen masks soon to breath.

I watched some of the video of the fires. The winds are incredible. I live in southern California in areas where we have fires often and I can relate to this firestorm.
Some fires you just can't fight, all you can do is get out of the way. And what's with the claims of Arson 'to clear out the land for developers??'
