Well, this is it, 2 more days till Retrouvaille. I am cautiously optimistic going into this thing, I spoke to a woman two nights ago who is one of the presenting couples at Retro and was very inspired by the things she had to say. She told me a couple of stories of couples who were separated or divorced for up to four years and after attending the Retro program remarried and are still going strong.
I explained to her that my wife had some apprehension about going to it because she feels that our problems are unique in that I have been verbally abusive in the past by complaining too much about the day to day running of the house and or child rearing arguements and even going so far as to block her exit in a recent fight because she refused to listen to me and just wanted to shut me out.
I realize all of these things constitute abuse/ bullying and intimidation and believe me when I say that I am not proud of myself. I really need to get a grip on my anger when she will not listen and learn to walk away.
Well after I explained all of these behaviors to this woman from Retro she just kind of laughed and said "you just get your Wife here because she ain't heard nothing yet" She said that the way the program intermingles their own personal stories of hell, mixed with their unique style of communication techniques she feels that my wife will be transformed.
She was quick to add that there are no promises made by the program but it will be an experience like no other.
So two days and off we will go, I beg anyone who reads this to pray for my family.
