It wasn't as punishment, it was that maybe she would get it. Maybe she would see that they are kids, and should be treated as kids. And that she would see that they do deserve to have someone take the effort to treat them with dignity and respect.
But I think you are right, the kid wouldn't deserve to have her as a parent. She'd probably try to hide them somewhere, and pretend they didn't exist. Yuck.
The resort does have five pools and a 177 foot water slide! It would be a lot better than lake Michigan in January.... just sayin'!
