LMAO. My corolla is a 98 too, remember? And the Scions use timing chains as well (they're made by Toyota of course). RB has a Scion and it has a timing chain.
I think by definition, having a large belt in the engine compartment causes damage when it breaks. That's why you're supposed to change the timing belt between 75 and 100k on most cars, when it shows wear. Of course, again, on a Toyota, it's not on the scheduled maintenance til a ridiculous amount of miles.
Well, at least you know you can get another 125k out of the timing belt this time around! LOL
