LOl, too funny! I think it takes time to really feel that it is the right time to be with someone. Perhaps he is ready to settle down soon and you clearly are looking for something different. Kudos to both of you for being honest. While it does sting, it would have been worse to draw it out and then have it end for the same reasons.
Take it easy and I am sure you will find the right person for the situation you are wanting.
