OK, I've got another question for anyone that has the time to answer.
It looks like there is going to be a delay before S9 can get special ed services. They may have to do more testing and will def. have to do the IEP process of meetings and all. When S15 did it a few years ago, different school but same county, it took almost the whole school year. Although I'm hoping since we've already done the private testing and a diff. school it would be a little faster this time. But anyway, until they complete that no special ed accomodations for D9. The main reason I agreed to her going is that my friend whose a teacher at the school said they have excellent special ed classroom & teachers. The asst. principal was suggesting they would put D9 in a regular classroom with no aide, and the teacher would report her concerns. The private evaluator told me a month or 2 ago that she recommended either special ed classroom or an aide if in a regular classroom and 1 or 2 hours a day rather than full-time. So going full-time with no accomodations seems totally against what she recommended.
They come back into the office next week and asked me to come in for a meeting. I'm thinking of suggesting my 1st option would be me homeschooling D9 during the special ed time (the morning half of the day when they do reading, math, and writing) and then having her go in the afternoon for lunch, special areas, science, etc which is her favorite classes anyway and that's when they mainstream them into regular classes so she'll have a transition into school which is good. Then when they let her into special ed she would go to that classroom in the am. If they don't agree to that, maybe just hsing her full-time until they are done with the IEP process and ready to give her accomodations. I think either option though H will be having us in court; I think he wants her in full-time because of the $$ issue so he can pay less alimony to me....
I would really love to get someone else's opinion on this. I feel like I'm alone in this b/c H is so focused on $$$ right now... Karen
