See, positives.

You saw your son off to his first day of high school, that's huge! It may seem like a little thing to you, but there's the folks like myself that unless something dramaticaly changes custody wise, is something I will not have the luxury of. But, I'm certain I will be the first phone call they make upon getting home, and that's what I have to be positive for.

And, you took a step toward resolving your own inner issues. You should be patting yourself on the back for that. A lot of people wouldn't.
