Instead of having a garage sale with all that hassle, you might consider taking it all to a place like Goodwill that accepts all that stuff. If you itemize on your taxes, you can get a pretty hefty deduction for donations (probably more than you realize!), with a minimum of headaches. Here's a site I've been using for a number of years to come up with the value of items donated (it's easy to use and amazingly detailed...you can get it down to things like "women's pullover sweater, fair condition" and it will tell you what the current thrift market value is)...and it's now free! (No, they don't pay me for endorsing it!)

I know it's not the same as cash-in-hand, but it's a whole lot less work for you, and you do get the value back in deductions, so it does keep more money in your pocket.
