I don't think Charlotte has forgiven me for my vacation yet! She actually slinks away to go visit S21 from time to time! She still yells at me everyday when I get home, though.
The kids are interesting. They seem to be adjusting really well, so we must have done something right!
Maple used to charge down the stairs yelling at me when I got home and fall at my feet. Now she doesn't get up and just looks up at me and makes a humphing sound and then slinks up after a while. I'm being made to suffer So funny how they hold grudges!
I hear ya on the distance traveled to kick a ball around! I can relate, though... I was a player, too, you know... OK, well, I only played one indoor season. I ended w/four yellows and a red card, ON THE MOM'S TEAM! I could not run that fast for very long. I could not dribble. I could not shoot. I could not pass. But, darn it, I was really good at pushing! My kids thought it was a RIOT. (The red was for using a certain F word. But only after I had snapped my achilles! Give the MOM a break!)
So, I'm retired.
LOVE FOOTBALL. S12 kicks and punts (can't do both club soccer and play full out football during same season... TIMING!) for his Junior High team. I can't believe your boys have started already, and it's HOT there!
PS - Tell S11, we may lean on him as a sub in Feb!

The average woman would rather have beauty than brains, because the average man can see better than he can think.
I think that anything would be ok after snapping an achilles! OUCH! Many years ago, the summer after college, I played in with some folks after work once a week, trying to delay getting too out of shape. I had a little incident with keeper, he blocked my shot, but it came back towards me. I thought I should try again, he thought he should jump on it. He magaged to stop the ball mt lower leg dead, the rest of me kept going, and there was an awful tearing sound. I don't know what I yelled! I've got a couple great scars to show for it, though! And a knee that's never been quite right.
S14 seems to be enjoying football, looks like he is going to be a wide receiver. He might be good at it. S11 has just started his club soccer practice, and it really sounds like he is learing now. I guess he's finally at the age where it isn't comet-ball anymore!
It is a little warm here! The district I'm in used to go year-round, as they didn't have enough classroom space. They opened enough new schools about 8 or 9 years ago to handle everyone, but a lot of people like the year round type calendar. So they kinda compromised. Summer is short, but they get a longer fall break and spring break. I'd rather have time off in October than August, I think!
I'd better not tell S11, he might think it was a good idea!
