How do you get a cat to jump in your lap? Dogs (men) are much easier but cats. crazy Be a cat whisperer now.

Coach, scratching my head on that one, but OK, I'm sure it means something great!

I just went darker on my hair color today... can't even blame it on the blonde, now!

I know this one by heart, MB. Coach has been preaching this gospel for two decades. He believes men are like dogs and women are like cats. What does a dog do when you call it? Comes to you right away. Hell, most of the time you don't even have to call a dog and it's all over you. Generally. What happens when you call a cat? Not so much. Coach believes that if you call a cat, it does just the opposite - it goes away. So...if you want to pet a cat, ignore it and it will be all over you, walking on your keyboard, sleeping on your pillow...

See?

Now I don't know if that is true but I can tell you that in our zoo, yes, this theory is proven. Coach is the ONLY person in the family our cat will come to, meow at or even acknowledge as existing.

So now you know smile

Well its either that, or his is a "closet cat" (dont know the expression exactly) since when I ignored him big time a year ago, he came around sniffing...

Okay, so @Coach suggests dealing with the situation as if waiting for a cat to jump in my lap. Quite apart from the naughty implications of the metaphor, I'm basically hip to the concept.

But what about boundaries? In other words, to what extent does LBS want / need to resist WAS's seeming pursuit (or pursuit-lite)?

Since the meeting with Fabulous MC#2 on the 28th past -- and it will be 3 weeks until the next session, what with Upcoming European Getaway next week -- WAW has been verily bombarding me with emails and texts, some of which tread into Personal Territory. Not probing questions, but revealing information. "Revealing" defined broadly, by the way. As in, revealing things about her personal life, her interior dialog, etc.

I'm reluctant not to respond to these in some way -- if she's taking the chance I don't want to punish her for doing so -- but I'm also reluctant to be less Darkly for fear that I might seem over-enthusiastic in my replies, switching the dynamic back to WAS-pursuit rather than LBS-pursuit. But by the same token, since my "business-like" communication tone of months past has been an obvious grievance for her -- she brought it up specifically with Fabulous MC#2 -- I don't want to revert to that for lack of a reply, know what I mean?

So....advices? Suggestions? How does one draw a boundary without chasing the cat away?

Hey Smiley - I haven't read your whole thread, so hopefully I'm not missing something as I reply. But how about just acknowledging? I'm glad to talk to you like this, or it was nice to hear from you today.

Hey BillM: I do that one, but it gets repetitive. For example, 5 emails, 6 texts today. Repeatedly invoking that kind of boilerplate sort of sends a signal, don't you think?

The challenge is (I think) not to shut down the communication opening she's created while simultaneously not opening myself up to too much.
