I'm still around just busy..Have not been on the board in days...I'm doing OK..the family is going through dad's things which I think helps with the healing. Mom totally redid the bedroom where dad slept..so that has helped her i think...

The trip to UVA was good..Michele's mom's surgery went well and they think they removed all the cancer..more tests in a few weeks..

the trip to Liberty for Michele's oldest daughters freshman orientation was interesting...Michele and I, her ex and his wife and their oldest D..we all had fun..

I have Caleigh this week..Funfest is going on now..we are having a good time..

You sound like you're doing very well Mike, all things considered.

That's great that Michele's mom came through the surgery well. I'll keep praying that the cancer was completely removed and doesn't reccur.

Ahhh...freshman orientation.....with the ex? And his wife? And their D? That's what I call FAMILY TIME!

Funfest...community celebration that lasts for a week..lots of concerts..Jazz, Country..last night April Taylor, Luke Bryan, Joey and Rory...tonight..Peter Frampton, Driving Mrs. Crazy with Trey Hensley and another group..tomorrow night Marshall Tucker band closes it out with Fireworks after the show..Hot Air Balloon races...food..workshops for old and young alike..bike races, softball tournaments, putt putt tournaments..plays...dog shows..anything and everything really..the website is

an update...have caleigh now for a few days..kim is still being abitch about the beach trip...I had to give up a few more days of my regular visitation in order to get her to finally agree after she had originally agreed but seems to have forgotten our original agreement..

I know...batchittcrazy..you don't have to remind me

I've come to the conclusion that after the beach trip that there will be no more swaps..we can just go by the parenting plan..I'll get a sitter when I need to do something..

we are slowly but surely wading through dads things..my older sister continues to struggle at times..my younger seems to be coming out of it..my bro and i attack it by staying busy...my mom copes by changing the house around..while looking through dads things we came across all his military things..he was an infantryman in WWII at the Battle of the Bulge..then one of the first occupiers in Japan after the bombs were dropped..he was discharged then volunteered for the Korean war and served as an MP in Trieste, Italy..a member of the TRUST forces..anyway..we found a yearbook..I jokingly said, "wonder what I'd find if i googled the "281st Military Police Company, Trieste Italy"...that google search led me to a contact page..for the guy who is the SEC/Treasurer of the TRUST association...I emailed the guy..he served with my dad..he has pictures he also gave me the name of my dad's partner in Trieste, Italy..I googled his name..got a phone number for him in El Cajon, California..I called him..he answered,....he has pictures I have talked to him 2 days in a row...the 281 MP reunion is in Myrtle Beach SC this year..in Sept..I'm invited ... the power of the internet!!

I beleive I just made my dad proud....

Michele's mom continues to do well and she has been declared cancer free...for that i am happy and thankful..

Michele and I are good...and trying to relax...in one week or so..we will have our toes in the water and our asses in the sand..along with all the girls...

Think I can handle all that estrogen???

IMO you are right to go back to the parenting plan after the beach vacation and just make other arrangements if you need to do something while you have Caleigh. Kim's attitude is not worth the hassle!!!!

That is an amazing story about your dad's group! How wonderful that you were able to track down people who knew him and have pictures and memories to share. Like I've said before Mike, your dad left a HUGE legacy for you and your family. Cherish every bit of it (as I have no doubt you will).

AMEN for Michele's mom being cancer free! That is so exciting!

Hello All...still around..still doing Ok..still staying busy..

i've made some changes in the alternate..I'll probably open another account for DB folks only and have a separate personal account...so if you can't see me anymore then that's why..i'll remain a member of the group over there..

beach trip with Michele, Caleigh and all the girls next week..this week..mowing, packing...and getting ready to go..

Still going through dad's things...just celebrated mom's birthday this past week with a surprise party...going to pick her out a laptop and wireless router this week... mom continues to do well..as does my bro and younger sister..my older sister is a wreck and now depressed I think..hopefully she will continue to heal and deal with the grief...
