I had D1 today. I picked her up around 9:00am at MIL's home. MIL seemed nervous, W seemed somber and didn't look at me much, and D1 lit up and grinned from ear to ear and came walking towards me.
I made small talk about a few things, and then D1 followed me out the door without looking back.
We ended up going to the mall, she and I walked side-by-side for a bit and got lots of "oohs" and "ahs" from all the women-folk who saw us, a daddy and his daughter walking from store to store.
I got her to do the "wave bye and blow a kiss" to a friend who works at the game store. Afterward we went to the public library, and I found a family law book written by the Judge who is handling my case. It made for an interesting read - specifically on how he factors in adultery and mental/emotional problems into his decision making process.
Enlightening. Especially as he has tended to favor the idea of fathers/mothers having an equal right to custody since at least 1996 and doesn't buy into the whole "tender years" doctrine.
Anyway, I dropped off D1 at MIL's today, and saw BIL and W. BIL looked kind of nervous, but I engaged him in small talk and tried to lighten the tension. I hate it because he and I were close when this started, and now there is damage there because of W.
No incidents, D1 cried a bit when I went to leave, but otherwise it was fine.
I spent the evening at a book store drinking coffee and reading spider-man comic books. I remember when things used to be much more simple...
