You may also let him know that while you are volunteering, you are building up your skills and networking. That is how you happened to get one of your past jobs I believe. People remember you and think of you when things open up. It isn't like you are sitting around eating bon bons and waiting for a job to come to you.
Don't let him get to you. I know I am one to talk.

Ditto what Kat said. Even volunteer work can benefit your job search.
And yes, NC is called for when your H is being disrespectful. He's obviously putting you on the defensive so as to deflect from his own behaviors. As you yourself advised me: don't respond, and let them consider their own selves for once.
i had volunteered at my son's preschool one summer and then they hired me to teach the art and cooking classes. so yes, volunteer work can certainly lead to a paid job.

Yes, but you know it's so easy to see in someone else's life, but so hard in your own!
I had a fun day today. We went to Waterworld waterpark in Alabama. I'd never been there before, and it was a blast for the kids. I was a chaperone and we had a busload of kids from the church. So much fun and so tiring and so sunburned!!! Drove with another woman (kids were on the bus) and we were talking about stuff we've been going through the past year (serious health issues in her family) and my never-ending divorce. We were saying how we've learned positive blessings can come from this stuff, and how we've learned not to plan our lives so much in the future, and living in the moment.
It certainly is easier to give advice than take it! But Karen, I think that you are doing great!
As far as the volunteer work, the networking that you build through volunteer work is priceless, for the job that I have now I made the connections that I needed, and gained a lot of the important skills through volunteering.
I guess I gave the wrong finger to the wrong man...
D9 had fallen down at the park (spiral ladder type thing) on Monday and then a little sunburn (just pink though on her shoulders. We applied sunscreen 30SPF 3 times during the 5 hours we were at the waterpark (with our church group), but she got pink shoulders and I got bright red ones! I'm going to try a 50 or 60 or as high as I can find (going again next month).
So predictably I got an email today: I noticed D9 is sunburned again (she got sunburned 5 or 6 months ago on a girl scout trip I didn't go on), and she has a very bad bruise on her arm. I sent him an email saying she fell at the park and felt bad about it, but told her all kids fall down and get hurt sometimes (he himself had tons of worst stuff than that when he was a kid and landed in the hospital several times!). Told him I did apply SPF 3 times, but will go higher next time. I'm sure I'll be seeing that email in court in a few months!!! Karen
Barf! He is such a predicatable azz!! I remember when S13 was little, he had to have blood transfusions about every three months(He and his sisters have hemolytic anemia)and the last time I took him for his transfusion at the local hospital, they called a social worker in. You have to remember he was a toddler that was trying desperatly to keep up with his brother and his coordination wasn't all that whoopie. So he had some bruises on his legs from knocking into stuff or tumbling around with his big brother. They treated me like I was hurting him. Upset me terribly but knew they were just being cautious.
He is just trying to play this terrible mind game with you and I really hope this is all over for you soon. Thanks for the chat!!

I agree with Kat, what an azz. I am covered with bruises. Kids get bruises, especially 9 year olds at waterparks! The last time I went to a water park I got a skinned knee, and I was 25!
Maybe you should photo document each application of sunscreen, and have a witness. Thats what summer is for, playing outside and getting sunburnt! At least a little.
Maybe if they ever left his apartment while he had them you would have a chance to complain about a few minor insignificant injuries yourself!

I'm sure I'll be seeing that email in court in a few months!!!
Oh, yeah, how compelling:
"Your Honor, my wife applied 30spf sunscreen, instead of 50! I would move that the Court immediately grant full and total custody to me, based upon this egregious example of parental malicious sunscreenery!!!"
