Great stuff and in my fantasy, H and I would do more of that work together (we did some and it was so helpful.

Imago is awesome and I really believe two people can help each other heal if they are both willing...both being the key word.

I think you still need the "willing", too... wink

Hey Thinker,

Alex suggested I read up on your posts on thought blocking. I tried searching for them, to no avail.

Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Hope I didn't point you the wrong way... I may have had wrong thread... The detaching link above is a good one. I'll try to find the thought-blocking one, too.

Thanks Alex.

If the link (didn't see it) is the one to the Livestrong.com article, I have read that article MANY times. It is a great one.

Hi Givingitmyall,

I wouldn't call myself an expert at thought blocking, and there aren't any links to the topic on my threads.

Sorry.

No problem Thinker.

How is thought blocking any different than just focusing on yourself? I have been pretty good in the self-focusing, but yesterday, I got a little angry that W had not sent me any IM's that day. Bugs me that communication we used to have throughout the day has pretty much ceased. Not causing me great angst, more irritation than anything else.

Oh, and sorry for the hijack.

I just found the link to a Livestrong article on thoughblocking on Aliveandkickings thread "Dreams of a new normal"

http://www.divorcebusting.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1805257#Post1805257

The livestrong link is:

http://www.livestrong.com/article/14703-thought-stopping-in-recovery/

As far as Thougthblocking vs Focus on yourself...

There are two dimensions to the self control we need.

The first is controlling whether we think about our S's (what they are doing, how to influence them, etc) or ourselves. That's where focus on yourself comes in.

The other dimension is whether we allow destructive, negative thoughts and rumination to control our emotions. Thoughtblocking is the process of stopping / stamping out those negative thoughts and ruminations. (To better undestand, you could be focused on yourself, and thinking negative destructive thoughts)

Hijacks are absolutely no problem. smile

This isn't a bad set of thoughts on managing your self-evaluations:

Positive Thinking
