I think you HAVE to let him vent. Just put it in perspective first.

Treat this no different than letting him Vent about the guys that pick up the garbage and leave the lids off the can when they are done.

Bottom line, It is about supporting HIM, not you. It shows that you are interested in his emotional well being, unless of course you aren't.

But I still think you can do all of this while you are still backed away a little.

He still has some processing to do....and it is easy to get caught in the eye of this tornado......
