Last year, H joined one of those book clubs - it was a military themed one. He is a survivalist dork, and this is one of the things I loved him for.
They delivered some books because no one went in and checked "no" for this month's selections (this was something i did). I sent H an email that I was changing the email address on the account to his, and he needs to take care of getting his books to the post office.
Later when he was over visiting DD and looking at his mail (there was a moment when he was looking at a Cabela's catalog, and we were joking about "varmint grenade" ammo) and he said "So you can't take this stuff back to the post office for me?"
I just looked at him...
"You either can or you can't. You can't?"
I was just kind of shocked... "Well, I guess I CAN..."
Christ. No please? No thank you? No "I would appreciate it if you could..."? I didn't want to start a fight. I wasn't being rude or confrontational at all that evening, just being new, happy me... Not sure why he had to be a dick about it.
Even when I asked if he would start DD in the bathtub while I took the trash to the curb, I said please. And when he opted to take the trash downstairs instead, I said thank you.
I don't think those books are getting to the PO anytime soon...
