So I just finished putting together a "friendi" present for my W for our Anniversary tomorrow - a gift bag with a card (nice and friendi - "Have a great trip, have a wonderful time with your mom, Happy Anniversary") , a travel mug, a starbucks gift card (since there is now a Starbucks at every rest stop) and some chocolate and biscotti for the road.

And then a few minutes ago, Mrs. Thinker came in...

Mrs. Thinker: "Um...I have a question."

me: "OK"

Mrs. Thinker: "Um...did uh...you um get me a um...card...um....for...um..."

me: "For our anniversary tomorrow?"

Mrs. Thinker: "uh...Yes"

me: "Yes. I did -- one that is in keeping with the mood in our marriage right now -- but still, 11 years is 11 years."

Mrs. Thinker: "Hmmm. OK"

and then a few minutes later (as it it is something completely new)

"I have to go out shopping for a bit. I'll be back in a half-hour or so"

Too funny laugh

Anyway, I personally have 0 expectations for the day. Even a year ago before the bomb she gave me a nothing card that said nothing, and she skipped fathers day all-together. Nothing for Valentines Day. A last-minute card and gift "from the boys" for my Birthday, etc. At first it hurt, but now it's just what I expect.

Now that she knows that I have something (she thinks just a card) It'll be interesting to see what she comes up with (if anything). I've been through the card shelves at the stores near us myself. There's nothing appropriate there!

Poor Mrs. Thinker. So much stress and confusion! smirk
