She had mentioned liking purple, so on the way, I stopped at the store and got a small vase with a few purple-ish flowers (carnations, perhaps) in it. I had debated a lot about that, some thing I read on-line suggested that flowers on a first date could be interpreted as pressure to get a woman into bed. I thought a bit and decided that women who thought that probably thought so highly of themselves that they would think that if you breathed during a date you were trying to get them into bed. Only having one opportunity to go on a first date, I decided to get them! Did I mention I was wearing a purple shirt?
Anyway, she had asked what colors I liked, and I had said yellow and green. So she showed up in a bright green top that she had gotten for St. Patrick's day, with her toenails painted green! And on her big toes, flowers with yellow stones in the center! We met at a nice pizza restaurant, and used the flowers as a centerpiece. She's an attractive woman, she's lost 50 pounds in the past two years! And quite smoking before that! (Which led to the weight gain in the first place.)
We had dinner, and talked about our kids, jobs, lives in general. She's been divorced almost as long as I've been married. Which is an interesting twist. But it does say that she is looking for a relationship that she wants, not one she needs, and I like that. We also talked about our cats, and as she had mentioned that she lived nearby, I said I'd like to meet her cats some time. I'm not quite sure how it happened, but she invited me to follow her to her house, and we spent a couple of hours there talking. NO HANKY PANKY! Though I did give her a hug and kiss the top of her head as I was leaving. And we agreed that there should be a second date. She knows I'm going to be gone for a week. I told her she'd better look out when I get back! Oh, I did meet her cats, they were really nice, too!
