2 Quick answers:
Yes, I have made a particular effort to compliment her in front of other people - in 2 areas in which she is both accomplished and proud - her cooking and her athletic ability. Can always do more of course...I appreciate the reminder.

I agree that I can't control what she say's to others. I don't really think about it or worry about it (although when I do find out about it it does hurt) - just responding to FB2's question.
