This might sound like a crazy idea to you.... Cleaning lady every other week? It would take the burden off of both of you and onto more important things.
And, what about getting a dishwasher? It's so much easier to just rinse and load it up.
Done (for both). We have had a cleaning service for years.
Most of the household chores involve feeding, dressing, bathing, and cleaning up after 3 kids and the massive amounts of clutter that they generate.

I think you are hitting on something here. It is difficult to get her to talk about it, but (mindreading...) I would guess that she feels that has been feeling unappreciated for years, and now (no matter how much I do to help out) is still very resentful.
