H called late last night... He had called his one of his two sisters, who is visiting his other sister that live part time in CO, near her grandchildren. The sister that lives in CO had discovered she had breast cancer about a month ago, had "some kind" of treatment (H's words), and now has found it again. Had "some kind" of operation yesterday, and when they opened her up, they found it all in her lymph nodes. They will start chemo and radiation next week.
H's fairly close to them both. (Remember, the odd family dynamic... see prior posts.) I offered to go with him to CO to visit his sick sister. He said he didn't want to go since she is having the treatments in CO, so she didn't have to "deal" with people in person about it, here at home... He thinks we need to give her some space.
Very sad. H's mom died from breast cancer when he was 20, and his sick sister is a duplicate version of his mom (I hear.).
Not sure what to do, as he shows no emotion about it... just letting me know about her.
I guess I'll just keep checking on her via him (we're not that close, not due to dislike or anything, just because of distance, etc... and they're not a very close-type family), and express my interest in her well-being. I care about her, too.

you may be on to something..I spent lots of time and energy giving up things..(where i lived for example) to make Kim's dreams come true...and I think this led to some resentment on my part..which in turn helped me contribute to the destruction of my M...
I get this, and am making the changes to make US feel better about "things."

If it were me, I'd want a little space to kind of deal with it. Sounds like your husband doesn't quite want to deal with it yet. You did the right thing offering. He'll change his mind at some point and want to visit at some point most likely. He may not though because of the pain it brings up about his mom.

H owns a business in the transportation industry. We are also partners in a company that owns/races harness horses. I work in automation in pharmaceutical industry.
OK, get this...
H brings home a CD. One of his business partners is involved with this "RAPPER." He has made a demo CD, and on it are solo tracks and a few tracks w/some fairly know rappers (hey, if I've heard of them, they must be someone!) H wants me to hear it. I think it's catchy, in fact, down right good, if you listen to the clean version (and I'm no prude!). I tell him so. H says, "Business Partner and I are considering investing in him, what do you think?"
WTF? We're a MIDWEST family, about as WASPY as you get... investing in a RAPPER? Whoa!
Ummmmmmmmmm........... I say, "He has potential. If you like the idea, and think it's a good investment, I say go for it. I want an autograph! Not sure I can handle a free ticket to a concert, though..."
