I've done both.

Individual Counseling is, of course, about your own personal psychological well-being. In the strictest sense of the term, it has absolutely nothing to do with your divorce. Not much will happen in IC in 1 session -- much of it will be taken up by back-story.

DB Coaching *can* be really helpful. I have used 7 sessions. That being said, I do get a bit vexed by the sales technique -- they know you're vulnerable and push you to take extra sessions, etc. Now I'm not saying they're not worth it, but I do find that rather irritating.

The 1-shot coaching will be very useful for you, alive, if you goal is to come to grips with your sitch AS IT IS RIGHT NOW. There's not going to be much there about "busting" the divorce. That usually waits until somewhat more advanced sessions -- that is, until you've spent more money.

So your choice should be driven by your goal for the cash outlay. Do you want specific thoughts on your sitch and ways to cope with it or do you want to start The Work, the long process, of getting in touch with your inner demons? For the former, DB Coach; for the latter, IC.
