OK no real news. Just a long catch-up post...

When last we spoke, my Husband asked me NOT to file for the big D until he had a chance to talk to our Pastor. Who, inconveniently for me (not that he doesn't deserve it!) was heading out after church Sunday for a week-long trip back to his home state, Mississipi, to see his grandson.

So our talk was last Thursday, then Pastor left on Sunday, Dan worked on Friday and had the kids most of Saturday. I enjoyed myself Saturday, went shopping, bought some new clothes for me and the kids. Cleaned up the house, started organizing.

Surprised Dan I think, the kids were dressed in super-cute new outfits on Saturday and both had new shoes for summer, too. Dan was taking them to a family reunion on his Dad's side of the family. He complimented the kids on how great they looked and then later said his mom was impressed, too.

(I don't ever let them look like street urchins or anything! I just hadn't bought Sydney summer clothes yet so she was wearing hand-me-downs and tennis shoes that were too big and falling off. Which he crabbed about. Said he made too much $$ for the kids not to have nice clothes. His issue, not mine. But, hey, all the more reason to shop, right? Ever the bargain hunter, though, our Penny's had all shirts/shorts for Sydney $3.99. I got like 10... ;\) And I let nathan pick his clothes so he mostly wears Star Wars or Indiana Jones screen-printed t-shirts. But I got him some nicer polo-style shirts for church.)

Anyway Dan was going to take the kids to see Night at the Museum Saturday but ran out of time with the reunion. So he showed up at my house at 6:45 with both kids Saturday night. Nathan was crying b/c he couldn't go to the movie, it started at 7:15 and there was no way to get there in time. So Dan offered to take him Sunday (MY day). Nathan said yes, could we ALL go?? Dan said yes and then bought the tickets online right then...SO we met up at church. I went with them to the movie after church, then Dan took off.

Monday I took the kids to the cemetary for Mem. Day, we delivered decorations to all my grandparents and to Dan's grandparents. The kids loved the ceremony at the cemetary incl. the 21 gun salute and TAPS. We went last year and I plan to go every year, the kids need to appreciate our vets.

Then we played in the backyard, I got out the pool, the sprinkler, the bubble machine, it was awesome! Dan texted at 1 to see what we were doing. I told him, he said that it sounded fun.
(Another change on my part, he always complained that i didn't take the kids outside enough when I was off work in the summers. And truth is, I didn't...I admit that. But this summer is going to be different!)

So anyway he said he wished he could be there. Then he showed up at 3:10 and they had just come in from 2 hours outside. He stayed for an hour, said he had wanted to see them in the pool. (Then I guess he should have come when he texted instead of waiting two hours!)

Anyway yesterday we had fun, kids went to day camp for part of the day. Then we went and signed up for the summer reading program at the library, the kids got their very first library cards and checked out books. Then we went to karate. After that we met my parents and sister and BIL for dinner and a new Mexican place that opened up in town Monday. Yum! Had a peach margarita...

Dan stopped by unannounced at 8:00 to see the kids, I showed him the new bedroom set I want to buy for my bedroom. It is awesome, arts-and-crafts style. I asked which he thought was the better investment, the bedroom set or the flower garden. I have a garden center coming tomorrow to give me a quote on putting in a patio and flower beds. (Again, I NEVER did that stuff for myself, waited for him, but this is MY summer to do what I want for a change! ) He said both were good ideas. Then he went in the kids room and saw the new ceiling fan I bought them over the weekend.

I am making changes right and left, and getting things organized. Did I mention I jogged two miles and then biked 12 miles at the Y yesterday while the kids were at day camp??

I am enjoying myself and letting everything else go...
