True,
Wow! You've had a lot going on in the last week or so! I'm glad things have settled down w/your neighbor. You know, you could always ask him for some ideas as well as others about your yard/garden. It might flatter him that you asked. Nothing says you need to do what he suggests.

I'm glad you spoke to your xmil. It's good to know that she's had contact w/your xh. She's right about a lot of things and he really does need to get over it and soon.

I think it's great that the guy rang you up. I do hope he stays in touch w/you. It's nice to have some "male" company every now and then. Two masts? That's very odd, but who knows...it could be a very nice sail boat and he's calling it a dinghy. You should him that you were no fool about sailing!

Enjoy the rest of your week. Things are happening all around you and all for the good!

Hi True,

Thank you for posting to me. I've just been catching up on your adventures. They sound so wonderful! Too bad we do not live close to each other!

I hope you have a good rest of the week.

Hi True, don't know that much about dinghy's but I believe there are some with 2 masts, possibly called mirror dinghy's ?
Have you tried checking them out-google?
Of course you might not be that interested but be a shame not to check it out just because you hadn't heard of them.

Take care.

Hi Snodderly,

Thank you for your post. Yes, I had a lot of things on lately, and I hope it will continue this way. I went to a live music performance last night but it was not so good.

I was thinking of what you said recently: "XH will contact you if he wants something!" He did. He is still going on about the money. He wrote that he prepared a nasty mail but could not bring himself to send it. Instead, he asked me nicely. We can stay friends this way; otherwise he will hate me the rest of his life!

Although I could be the one who is angry at XH for all the things he did to me, I will just ignore it and not answer anymore. There is only one more business thing at the moment we need to deal with, and that should be done in a few days.

My neighbour is still getting on at me. Now that his shrubs are gone he can just see whatever I am doing and comes across to talk to me about his intentions. I was sitting in the garden this afternoon wanting to read something and he asked me what my time schedule was for getting the things done he wants me to do. I just don't need all that. – I did ask him for some ideas. - All my neighbours are so nosy and turn around as soon as I step out of the house.

Hi naej,

I forgot to mention that the guy corrected himself and said he meant the dinghy had a foresail! So he didn't actually mean two masts but two sails.
---------

I wrote the above some days ago but didn't post it. In the meantime quite a few things happened and the weather has been so super that I have felt really good lately.

One of the things that happened is that I thought I would "test" XH. I wrote to him about my problems with the neighbour and asking him for advice expecting him to react like he did, i.e. saying that we are not friends anymore and he does not want to help me. So I replied that I thought he would react like that and that was what he called friendship. His next e-mail mentioned again the old thing. BUT THEN, a few minutes later I received an e-mail saying that he cannot abandon me after so many years which I probably knew. He then listed a few solutions. I thanked him for his help and friendship and told him that I didn't know he would offer his help.

I was really surprised that he replied in a positive way in the end. Was it his guilt that made him do it? I would have liked to write "you have already abandoned me" but I didn't!

Snodderly, here is something that will make you smile again:

The next interesting thing was that I put an ad on a local Internet dating site, the same one I am answering to ads. The funny thing was that two guys who I was in contact with before answered to my ad, one of which is the "sailor" who wouldn't reply to my e-mails anymore – LOL.

Yesterday evening I met my GF in the town nearby since it was a super and warm evening. We walked on the water front and went to an outdoor restaurant for a drink. I felt really good. I was dressed in something that other people obviously thought I looked good in since I got many looks.

We had great and very hot weather lately and I spent a lot of time outdoors. Unfortunately, a cold front is approaching and we all just hope that this was not summer and only rain and cold will follow.

On Thursday I will meet the "hiker" again if the weather will be OK and next week-end I will have a family gathering which am looking forward to.

Hi nlt,

Thanks for popping in and your compliment. Yes, I am enjoying life a bit more these days since I solved at least the problem with my neighbour.

True,
You are not by yourself when it comes to nosy neighbors. I have the same problem, but not to the extent that you do. If your neighbor continues to ask about when you are getting things done, just smile and say, they are on my list of things to do. You owe him no explanaton as he's not paying for your place or the work to be done. People like that have no life what so ever.

Your xh reacted exactly the way I thought he would. He realized how he sounded after he said it and came back with a nicer email. Just be careful, for you have now opened the door for a return favor.

I'm glad you have been enjoying yourself. You need this much needed pleasant break from the madness you've been dealing with. Good for you!

Enjoy the rest of your week.

I think it was his turn to return a favour since I did so many things for him recently. I just hope he will see it that way as well. But I will be cautious nevertheless.

I also wish you a pleasant rest of the week. Take care.

Hi True,

Thank you for posting to me!

At least your xh was nice with the next email & offered his help. But I agree, you should be cautious.

I'm glad you are getting out & enjoying yourself. Don't worry about the neighbors. If that is all he has to do is stick his nose into someone else's business (yard) then he has more problems than he really knows. I saw a movie or show once that said if someone sticks their nose into someone else's business then it should get punched! That was a kid talking but it stands to reason. Of course you are not going to go punch the neighbor. I do think you are handling it very well. I have hedges in my yard also, I'm the one that keeps them trimmed but it does block out the neighbors although mine still keep an eye on what I'm doing & sometimes it's hard to go outside without them wanting to talk or something but at least I've got good neighbors & they are not telling me what I need to do.

Hi nlt,

Thanks for posting and your wishes. I had quite a nice week-end so far.

I sorted out the problem with my neighbour. However, since there are no shrubs between us at the moment, I did what he did to me: I went across into their garden and asked them something. I have never done it before but since they have done it to me recently and I didn't like it I thought I'd show them how it feels. So hopefully, they will get the message.

I didn't meet the "hiker" on Thursday since the weather was not good enough to go hiking. So we postponed it.

On Thursday evening a jazz concert was pointed out to me by somebody who was supposed to meet me. I went with one of my GFs. The concert was terrible and the guy was not there either. So we left and went to our "regular" place where there was super Latino music which we enjoyed a lot. On Friday evening there was another jazz band playing which was super.

Today we had our family gathering which was lovely. The weather was also nice but unfortunately quite windy and cool. But we were still able to sit outdoors in a sheltered place. In the evening I went on my own to a live performance of some bands which was not terribly good. - So all in all I had a good time.

I had some interesting correspondence from my XH recently. After I thanked him for his help he replied that where he lives some people believe that if you do something good to somebody you will be rewarded in your next life. This is a comfort to them and they are not as afraid of death as he is.

I agreed with him and wrote that at least that religion made him behave a bit nicer towards me. He wrote back that he didn't convert to that religion and it was not the reason why he helped me. (However, he did not mention why he helped me.) He has been "still" since.
