In general I'm trying very hard not to pass judgments on people -- failing from time to time, but recognizing that all we know is at best a partial view of what's really going on.

Yes, I have heard that term used several times to refer to DH in the past week from some RL friends.

DH was living on the ship prior to deployment, but it is going in the yards in a couple months. He will not be able to live on it then, anyway and cannot use the enlisted quarters that will be provided, as there is no separation and he has an address in VA. I can only imagine what the Captain would say if he knew what was going on.

It is a special kind of ridiculous, isn't it? The sad thing is, DH was an amazing dad and I know it is still in him somewhere, it is just that darn fog blocking his ability to think clearly. Thanks for the support!
