I think the self-indulgent stanza is out of place in the poem. It contradicts the remainder of the poem. It is the wolf in sheep's clothing of the poem.
Yes, well the whole poem is chock full of self-indulgence, being true to one self, self-congratulation and self-absorption.
That one stanza, seems to me, to be all about following your bliss even if it means cheating on your spouse. Because true faithfulness is about being "true" to your desires, not your promises, you past, or TRUTH itself. Makes me want to puke.
And yes....it freaking showed up on our kitchen cabinet.
