I won't put my weight on here--there are too many people that know me on Facebook from here! LOL Suffice to say, I could lose a hundred pounds and still not be at the "recommended weight" for my height and frame. However, fortunate or unfortunate, I have never looked my weight.
I am committed to this--I paid a gym membership and I hate to waste money. My D17 is going to take a picture this afternoon and we will hang onto it. I have a wedding to go to in June, and I am hoping for some small changes by then.
Thank God for the day I drifted into a forum I rarely visit. He made sure I found the right thread that day.

First, let me say this, don't pay ANY ATTENTION to this "recommended weight" Let me give you an example. Going by that chart, I am 80lbs overweight! LOL I wear a 36 pants, a 50 coat, but according to that chart, I am 80 lbs. overweight! LOL Don't worry about the weight, cutting fat is what we are after! Remember, muscle weighs more that fat and its more dense. Let me ask you this, would it be OK if you weighed 225 lbs. and wore a size 10? I know that is a bit of a stretch, but what I am trying to say is that lots of people are hung up on the scale, concentrate on a clean diet, solid weight program, and good cardio. Do those things, the fat loss will take care of itself! I am so glad you are committed to this! That is most of the battle right there! You just have to look yourself and say "I;m sick of this, I can and will do better"!! Keep me informed of your progress!! I will help you anyway I can!! I noticed we are neighbors, you live in VA. I live in KY.! Great!! Everyone wish me luck today, I have my powerlifting meet this morning!! Hopefully I will come back in one piece!! LOL
Good Luck, Brave! Be careful, stay safe, and have fun!!!
Yes, I know muscle is denser than fat, so I do not worry overmuch. I go by the fit of my clothes and they are getting looser in the right places!
We are practically neighbors, although I live right by the coast.

Sounds like you have got the right attitude!! I have an Aunt that lives on the coast out there, Williamsburg in fact! I have been several times, its beautiful out there! I won the meet! LOL I have been sore the last 2 days, but its a good sore! LOL I'm getting back into training this morning. How did you do this weekend? You have to watch weekends, they are the ones that can get you if your not carefull!
I had no sitter to go to the gym on Saturday, but have rectified that situation going forward. I had a small splurge yesterday. My nephew was here for his spring break to visit his mom (my sister). We went out last night for a seafood buffet. I did not eat too much, but more than I typically would, as i do not get to eat good seafood very often. Plus I had a small piece of ice cream cake. Let me rephrase that, my mom and I split a small piece of ice cream cake.
I did lots of walking and stretching, even though I could not lift weights. I also engaged in MAJOR retail therapy yesterday, and as a result of the change in my sizes and her wanting to help me, my D17 has agreed to come watch the littles (what I call my other three kids) on Saturdays for me from now on so I can get to the gym then, too.
I LOVE Williamsburg! We make several trips a year up there. There is also a gorgeous winery that just added a beautiful upscale hotel to its premises. I am hoping to visit there with my DH in the future. I am saving for it now.
Congratulations!! Good for you for winning the meet!! I am sure that would result in a couple of sore days afterward, even when in top form.

I am doing the physical therapy exercises, but not much else. A little Pilates. I hope to get strong enough to get back on the exercise bike.
The new diet I've been working on...well, I do seem to be losing belly fat. But I was such a nervous wreck at work today, I ate a ton of pistachio nuts, sigh.

STW, Thanks!! I sure did feel great after the meet, but sore at the same time! LOL STW, be VERY CAREFULL about breaking over on the diet, especally right now in the beginning. You will wreck yourself!! You must learn to eat right, even when you are with others who are not!

Breton, just go slow and easy! Some exercise is better than none! Don't sweat the nuts, you need some good fat to lose bodyfat.

Well, apparently I did not eat as much at dinner as I thought I did. Or maybe it was relative to what everyone else ate! LOL My 11 y/o nephew made a comment about how little I ate and it didn't hardly seem fair that I had to pay full price for the buffet to my sister after they got home!!
I am usually very careful about what I eat and how much. I have become the queen of portion control. In my mind, the important thing is that this is not a diet, but a lifestyle change. Diets get broken, lifestyle changes are permanent. Well, in real life, birthday parties happen, you just have to be careful about how you approach them so that you do not revert to past bad habits. I think I handled it well, especially splitting a piece of cake with my mom that was smaller than the piece we cut for my S3.
You should feel great about your accomplishments! I know for me, I am going to register for the 8k walk for this fall and I cannot wait to do it! That is a HUGE step outside of my comfort zone, but I know I will be more than ready for it courtesy of your help! Thank you again!!

Breton--
I am in agreement with Brave--nuts are a good fat. And I LOVE pistachios!
