Hi Hoosier, I am sorry about your gas, no help at all I know. Do you stil have the cooker working but just not the heat? My boiler pilot light wouldn't relight and it turned out to be the thermo coupler-aparently thats the bit that carries the electrical spark to ignite the flame? it was quite inexpensive to get fixed. I have no idea about these problems but if they have been off for a while could they just be blocked by a bit of dirt? I guess you need a handyman round but someone cheap. Things just have to get better for you soon. I feel so useless but I will keep you in my prayers. I hope Sunday brings you some answers.
Don't know what you have tried so I am going to say this like you have never don this before
If yo have a gas fire place there is a safety valve that shuts the gas off when pressure is lost. The heat of the flame is what keeps this valve open. The valve usually has a litte red button on top of it that you have to depress and hold to light the pilot.
Trace the gas line back from the pilot. You will have to hold this button down for a little bit (60 seconds) after you light the pilot to allow the heat of the flame to warm up the sensing line and kepp the valve open.
Your other gas appliances (water heater) should have the same type of safety devices.
Any gas yet Hoozh? Unfortunately, I'm a complete idiot when it comes to such things; every year, it takes me an hour just to figure out how to re-light the pilot light on our gas-burning fireplace.
No, still no gas. I'm not sure what happened--I had it for about 10 minutes while the guy was here, and then it was gone. I'll have to call this morning and see what's going on.
Could be that's why the pilot lights didn't fire up?

Hey Hooz, Avid lurker here...I have been job hunting for myself and for "fun" checked out nursing positions in the indy area on career builder and came across one that sounded perfect for you. You've probably seen it, but in case you haven't here it is. Having read your plight, I hope that you can find a job that will allow you to use your skills and keep your house with the luxury of heat and everything!
