I don't know. I tried on a pair of black patent leather heels today but it didn't feel like me. I think I'll go for a more conservative style. Or, I could wear my kicka$$ Frye boots that I bought in NYC in 1977! They always make me feel powerful.

Hey Silver,

Sorry, but I dont like the sound of the outfits, esepcially the black.. it is said that we wear black when we lack confidence. It also sounds like quite a 'heartless' outfit, you know? Business like.

Why not just be yourself, wear something comfortable colourful and pretty. Do a 180.. do you know what kind of clothes he liked you in or would have liked you to wear when you were together? How about more feminine, a dress maybe? I dont mean dress up like a date,.. but if you present a wall of defensiveness and hide behind a ball-breaking outfit, you will put him on the defensive as soon as you walk in the room. I vote for soft and pretty and like you are out for a nice day out, not wearing a suit of 'armour'. How about it?

Al x

Hi Ali,

Funny, I was thinking about that today too. I wondered about a dress, something springy if it's warm enough here. He did like me in dresses which I rarely put on. The black however wouldn't be that much of a surprise for him. My whole wardrobe is based on it. All my shoes are black. I have lots of black pants, jackets, pocketbooks. I started adding color in the last few years in sweaters and I do have one pair of red shoes but they're flats.

Thanks for your take on it. I guess I was thinking "business" because I was such a sad case around him all last year. It's important to me that he understands that I'm serious about contesting this D and very serious about the terms I will and will not accept.

Well, I have 2 weeks so I'll be trying on lots of things!

Hmm, in light of learning about the basic black wardrobe I definitely vote for color. I was going to say red cardigan because it is a power color. I think it is more about business at this point. You want to be taken seriously and this is a business setting. I wouldn't go all floral, seems to wishy washy.

Perhaps a good compromise would be a new feminine top in a lovely color, whatever suits your coloring best. And if you can swing it, a pair of colorful shoes to match. With the black pants/skirt it will be professional but flattering. (And if you can stand them, pointy toe shoes always seem serious and sexy to me.)

If you love somebody, set them free.

Silver,

I'm still pulling for some sexy red heels. Make him wonder. . .

I've been catching up on your sitch, and it's definitely got me interested!

I will stay tuned to hear about your mediation - I really hope that it goes well.

You sound really strong and you are inspiring me!

I vote for the black skirt, white blouse, red sweater draped over your shoulders, & red peep toe pumps. You'll feel & look like a million bucks. More important than his reaction, I think, is how you feel.

Good Luck

Now I'm thinking of what to wear to court on the 15th.

I still haven't decided and have tried on everything in my closet. I feel like a teenager going on a a first date. Speaking of teenagers, I watched Twilight last night and while the credits were running I cried like crazy. Not over the movie but over my sad, pathetic H and memories of happy times. First time in a month I think. Oh to be 19 and madly in love for eternity!
