To be fair, he did not come over until the evening because I asked him to come later as I needed the time to clean the house and get some laundry done. There was no way I wanted him to see it in the shambles it was in!
For the record, here is a transcript of the texts:
Me: The furnace isn't working. Can you come over later and take a look?
xBF: When?
Me: I should be home around 6. I think it's just the pilot but can't remember how to relight.
xBF: I'm bowling with G & B at 4-I will stop afterwards
Me: Which will be when?
xBF: Probably around 7
