I have been reading but not commenting, you are getting a lot of advice and opinions. My question is, "what do you want?" It seems to me that if you know what you want then it is easier to know if he/you/R is going that direction or not. What do you want from him/ this R/ for yourself? Answer these questions and it may be easier to "know" how things are going and no more roller coaster.
It's a bit unclear to me whether or not you want him back or want to work on the R. You say you do and don't. Which is it? Not trying to be a pain - I'm soooo confused.
