They only allowed graphite in our pack, but I think that might be better than oil anyway. I wonder how silicon would work.

The nail axels all have stamp marks on the shaft and burrs under the nail head that need to be filed off. I think you can add beveling or grooves so the wheels dont rub against the car body.

My S8 also used power tools to cut and sand. I helped him add a hollowed out pirate "rum booty" compartment to keep lead fishing shot in for weight in the rear of the vehicle. However, after gluing all 9 pirates on board, we were a little over weight and had to remove more wood on the underside and not use any lead shot weight.

I heard one little trick is to add a magnet on the front of the car so that when the wire starting gates are dropped forward and down that it gives the car a boost. I am not certain about the legality of that though.
