I am holding firm on my very fair division financing of extracurricular activities. She has not mentioned again so maybe she is accepting her responsibility.
I am a bit concerned now about the retirement division - the last IRA account I am transfering is going to fall short about $9K of the divorce settlement. When the divorce was finalized, there was enough in the SEP IRA's to cover what was agreed upon for X. But the market has tanked quite a bit. I am not sure what to do after this last transfer is done so as to make up the difference.
My lawyers assistant called me today. She wondered whether X would simply sign off on what was transferred. I doubt that is a possibility. We will determine what to do after the last IRA is transferred.
Hi Kerry, This strikes me as a risky/idiotic way to divide things based on dollar amounts of shares that change daily.
On another note. The Pinewood Derby was this last weekend. My S8 won first place for the fastest car in his entire pack - there was probably around a 100 cars he raced against from Weblows down to Tigers. He and I were so happy as we both were quite a team. I will post a picture in the aternate universe when I get time.

What would you say was the most important part to make the car fast? My son and I sanded and polished the axels real good. If not for all them pirates causing wind resistance, we probably would have won more races.

a buddy of mine actually brought the axles to work and had them machined... his son won every race..by a mile..a machinist told my buddy that sanding the axles actually causes microscopic grooves which can slow the car down abit..
Kerry, In general you have to maximize weight and minimize friction. Here were some factors that gave us the edge:
- Design: Was quite aerodynamic - long sloping front. It was also very symmetrical - we used all straight surfaces and cuts - so weight was evenly distributed so the car did not have to hit the sides of the track much. We used power tools to do the cuts and sanding. However, it happened to be S8's design exactly!
- We notched the bottom and stuck as many quarters there so the weight was almost exactly the maximum.
- By axles I assume you mean the 4 nails, one for each wheel. We made sure the wheels rotated freely and evenly and we also put a tiny drop of oil on each nail head.
- I prayed hard that S8 would win to boost his confidence.
Unfortunately in our excitement we dropped the trophy when we got home and it broke in two. I consoled S8 by telling him its just a piece of plastic and we still won the race. But I'm also getting a replacement trophy for $2. Mike we won every race but sometimes it was very close as many of the other cars were extremely fancy compared to ours. And I was so grateful for all the help we got.

They only allowed graphite in our pack, but I think that might be better than oil anyway. I wonder how silicon would work.
The nail axels all have stamp marks on the shaft and burrs under the nail head that need to be filed off. I think you can add beveling or grooves so the wheels dont rub against the car body.
My S8 also used power tools to cut and sand. I helped him add a hollowed out pirate "rum booty" compartment to keep lead fishing shot in for weight in the rear of the vehicle. However, after gluing all 9 pirates on board, we were a little over weight and had to remove more wood on the underside and not use any lead shot weight.
I heard one little trick is to add a magnet on the front of the car so that when the wire starting gates are dropped forward and down that it gives the car a boost. I am not certain about the legality of that though.
