I think you have a pretty good handle on things. And I think you understand him pretty well.

Now, take care of that nose! \:\)

Kerry,

Yes I did want to live on that farm with him. Still do. Even though it is long hours of work, I would know where he was. Rather he be scooping manure then at the bar... ;\)

Anyway the thing is his parents still have a decent size acreage. I think around 80 acres. So there are other places on the farm where we could build a house. We could STILL have 80% of the dream, building a house on the farm. Living there with our kids. Gradually buying the acres from his mom and dad so he doesn't lose the farm when they die.

BUT is isn't the particular 40 acres he wanted to build on. So I guess it is worthless now....

And Kerry, the reason he wants to have the farm is because he grew up on a farm and no matter what job he ever has, it will never be his calling unless it is on the farm. He wants to raise show cattle. It is a niche market like having show dogs just on a higher level. He would raise a larger number of cattle and probably have crops, too, to make enough money to pay for the show cattle enterprise. Once you get a good heifer (girl cow), you can 'flush' her for embryos and get hundreds of dollars or more per embryo. With a good bull you get 'straws' of semen and can sell them for BIG money, thousands if he is really good.

Our best cow cost over $10K when he bought her. He flushed her and 8 of our other cows are carrying her babies this year. Gives new meaning to the term "cash cow"...

I dont want to know how one goes about getting 'straws' of semen from a bull. Something tells me it is a dangerous and uncomfortable adventure - much like milking a mother grizzly bear.

HA!

BBJ - that is so funny about the straws of semen. One of our clients at work flys all over the world with straws of bull semen selling to cattle ranches. He has some of the highest prized bulls in the US apparently. He goes to Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Canada mostly. I have no idea what they sell for but it must be a pretty penny if he flys it there himself!

Dan is a mess. No other word for it. He blames you for losing his dream. No real recovery from that unless he finds himself another dream. The practicalities of the situation you were in at the time were totally lost on him.

BBJ,

I can read how much you've changed since the beginning of this ugly process... you are doing amazing.. we can see that!! If your H ever decides to take his blame goggles off he would surely see it to.

I'm sorry things are looking so icky right now.. but we don't know what the future will bring.. all I can figure is that for you it'll be ALL GOOD!

Hugs,
W2G

PS.. Good luck with the meds. I hope the infection clears up soon!

Thanks everyone!

Kerry & John, they get the straws of semen by hand...literally There ARE gloves though... ;\)

Thanks for all the compliments, guys. I know I will be okay I am more concerned for the kids but so far they are dealing well. We will see how they (and Dan) react once he really has a house to live in and things will feel a lot different. Now Dan spends his time either here at the house or at his mom and dads. Doesn't make it seem as real I think...

Oh and I ran 2.5 miles at the Y today, gotta up my mileage!

Also I am taking my full 30 days of meds and then we will see if MRSA rears its ugly head again...hope not.

Hey BBJ, I notice you include me and Kerry in the post above regarding "hand" methods. Are you trying to tell me something?
Ok, I admit that my recent "experience" has forced me to gain some experience but LJ and a Bull??? Maybe I could start a new career....but what do I put on my resume?
