It was all the more special because I had no expectations. Yes, it is good to know that I, at least occasionally, cross his mind. I sent him an email back thanking him and letting him know what the kids and I had done over the weekend for my birthday. I did mention that it would have been nice to have him here, too, but that I know that the needs of the Navy come first. I don't think it was too bad, at least not in the context I did it. Maybe it was pursuing, not sure.
