Theo, you forgot to mention the following:
you may lose your home, your car (and hence, your transportation to whatever work you can find that fits into being a single parent with little support network); your utilities may be shut off, so you and your child will live without heat (that is, if your furnace even works to begin with)--so do what you can to hang on until warmer weather. And if you happen to be a professional, you will not qualify for any assistance because you have the potential to bring in a much larger income than your single parent hours currently allow.
